Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, 26 July 2023- Held from 23 to 27 May at Langkawi Island Malaysia, the Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition (LIMA) 2023 was one of the grandest events of the year in Malaysia. Being the premier aerospace and maritime exhibition and trade show in the Asia-Pacific, this year’s LIMA welcomed a record 600 exhibiting companies from 30 countries as well as more than 45,000 trade visitors and 250,000 plus public visitors.
As the PR and Events partner of LIMA 2023, The IBR Asia Group played a role in ensuring that the event was a success, thanks to the series of services that we provided in the run-up to and during the event.
To generate interest for LIMA 2023, we worked with the organisers as well as leading exhibiting companies to create a social media campaign which highlighted what visitors and exhibitors can expect at the event, and invited interested parties to register as either an exhibitor or a trade visitor.
Among the leading companies in the aerospace and marine sectors which we worked with on this campaign were Airbus, SpaceX, Naval Group, Leonardo, Thales, Korean Aerospace Industries, Turkish Aerospace Industries, and Fincantieri.
The organisers of LIMA 2023 also made use of our abilities in digital media production, and commissioned us to conduct and produce video interviews with leading stakeholders including event partners, the Minister of Transport Malaysia, the Chief of Air Force Malaysia, and the Chief of Defence Forces Malaysia.
These, along with the production of electronic newsletters publicising LIMA 2023 which were disseminated to more than 14,000 top corporate and government decision makers in Southeast Asia, helped further drive awareness for the exhibition.
Aside from these pre-event publicity campaigns, The IBR Asia Group also contributed to value-adding to LIMA 2023. We did this through organising the first-ever IBR Global Maritime and Aerospace Awards, which was held on 26 May at the Mahsuri International Exhibition Centre. The Awards added to the attraction of LIMA by being the first-ever awards ceremony which celebrated the achievements and excellence of individuals and organisations in the global aerospace and maritime industries.
Seven organisations were adjudicated to be deserving to be recipients of the Awards while the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award was given to former Malaysian Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad in recognition of him being the Architect of LIMA.
In addition, we also organised the first IBR GMA International Forum which brought together experts from the aerospace and maritime industries to talk about the challenges, opportunities, innovations and future of their sectors.
Panellists included top decision makers from SIRIM (Malaysia), DEARSAN Shipyard (Turkiye), Robinson and MD Helicopters (USA), Fincantieri (Italy), EDGE Group (UAE), Hexagon (Sweden), and Damen Shipyards (Netherlands).
The IBR Asia Group also provided LIMA with expert copywriting services, particularly speech-writing for key senior stakeholders of LIMA 2023 including the Prime Minister of Malaysia YAB Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim, the Minister of Defence Malaysia – YB Dato’ Seri Utama Mohamad Hasan, and the Minister of Transport Malaysia YB Tuan Anthony Loke Siew Fook.
In a statement, Dato’ Beatrice Nirmala – the CEO of The IBR Asia Group – said, “We are proud to have played a part in showcasing LIMA 2023 to the world, and that our range of services have been employed to make LIMA 2023 the most successful one ever.”
